hi chrissi . have only got a couple left so i will have to keep them for the next one .but the board i took them out of was from a samsung le32b450. the power/ inverter board sits on the right if you look at the set with the back of it from behind . hope that helps

as a quick test you can remove them all together and see if the invertor comes up just remember to replace them at a later date ( suddenly remembering the one in the bedroom i " tried " about 6 months ago and have been watching since !)

yes but they provide a discharge path for the invertor coils if the tubes fail so prob not a great idea to just take them out long term

Thanks a lot.

The markings on the ones i took out were '5 and 3KV', so that would be 5pF and 3KV, correct?

These would be the same ones then, but would I be right to think that they'd be likely to break down if I replaced them like for like?

hallo gadge64  the caps are at the other end of the board one on either side of the inveretr tx they are between it and the two plugs to the screen.

Thanks Kenny, I took them out the other day and it worked fine after that.

I still need to replace them though, would you recommend I replace them with the same type? That's all I can find.

They are the 5pF 3kV blue caps C230 & C231. I have had two of this model with the same fault and this fix worked for me on the first one but the second failed again after a couple of days. I suspect a faulty inverter transformer but God knows where I'll find one.

Dan.

kinda need some help here.. seems my pictures dont have the same layout as yours. my TV just died when i tried to turn it on.. 6months old.   if any1 can help i'd be very happy.  ive checked the basic signs of burst/damage parts but nothing that stands out.
