Title: LCD screen replacement.
Post by: davef292 on June 21, 2011,07:58:33
Hi guys, newbie here with a question about replacing damaged screens.

I have a Samsung LE32A457C1D with a damaged screen and a Wharfedale / Vestel LCD37F1080P with a damaged screen and a power supply board fault. (Stays on stand-by and stand-by light flashes once afrer a few seconds of switching it on, then stays in stand-by. Im looking to swap the whole board 17PW20-V2.

The Samsung has an AU Optronics T315XW02 VL screen and the Wharfedale an AU Optronics T370HW02 V2 fitted.

My question is: Can I replace the screens with other makes of screen, or would they need to be replaced like-for-like? IE: AU Optronics.

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Based on past experience, try it and see. If the plugs are the same it wont do any damage. I had a Samsung with a broken screen that I replaced with a screen with the same pt no and guess what..it didnt work as there was a ribbon cable on the replacement. So pt nos on screens are just a guide I presume :33:

Just a word of caution.... I'm all for the " suck it ans see " approach and sometimes if the plug fits it will work but I found to my cost recently even if they look the same and have the same connector sometimes the wiring's different and you'll get a nice wee cloud of smoke as the vga protection chip starts to burn off the motherboard ! Cost me £ 60 for a new board and still had to source a compatible screen ... so beware there are risks to substituting look a like parts.....

 :051bye:  Sorry to join the conversation, but you avoid a disaster.
It is necessary to take into account the following;
The T315 screen is powered by +5 v.
The T370 screen "" "+12 V.
Greetings.
