Title: SAMSUNG PS50Q97HD Y SUS FAULT NOT WORTH FIXING TRUE OR FAULSE HELP NEEDED

I would appreciate any advice on repairing a samsung ps50q97hd with the usual y sus main and upper buffer blown. I have read a lot about this problem on various forums and most seem to be doom and gloom saying new replaced boards blown, x sus blows, mal-discharge etc. Is this true or overkill of the problem experienced by some engineers. if you have had success with this problem it would be great to get some positive words as i really want to try and solve this tv BUT not if its 90% certain i will be wasting my time and money. PLEASE HELP :(

Hi all, does anyone know what the y main and buffer board numbers are fitted in a Samsung PS-42A457P1D

Hi,
We had a spate of PS50C96H's a few months back, with these boards faulty,
and each one either had a display fault, damaging the buffer again, or, a mal-
discharge effect.
We don't repair this model for this problem any more, and I don't know
of any definitive way of testing the display before changing the panels.

Hi John, this is what i have read so doesn't seem like a good idea to take the chance, does the panel become faulty which blows the buffer or does the buffer damage the panel. Trouble is i am stubern so wan't to have a go but feel i would be wasting time and money. I was hoping someone out there had been successful with this repair.

Hi Paul,
Yes, previously replacing the upper Y-SUS buffer used to solve the fault,
although sometimes we had to change the Y-SUS board as well.
Recently though, they don't, and the Display is the main problem.
As to what damages what, we assume it's the display, as we have
replaced the Y-SUS buffer/ Y-SUS, and the buffer blew again.

I know that there are at least 2 fets on the y sus S/C (Q5303 & Q5304) so i was going to repair the board by double checking everthing i can then replace the upper buffer with a new one (mine has got a blown top chip) cross my fingers and switch on.

Hello all,

there is a repair kit to for the ysus, the fets are included, there's also service info. available of how to fix the kit and also check the buffers and psu.
