Title: Philips 32PF5331/10 Sound but no picture
Post by: gadge64 on August 27, 2011,06:24:07
Hi guys, my uncle dropped me over a telly with a strange problem.

Every year when he goes on holiday he unplugs everything in the house. When the family get back, they have trouble getting this TV to work. When it powers up, the sound works fine but they get no picture. Plugging it out and back in several times usually fixes this, and it remains fine after that, there are no problems getting it in and out of standby.

They just got back from Turkey, and the same thing happened again, but this time no matter how many times they tried, they couldn't get a picture. My uncle dropped it over to me yesterday. I checked to see if even the backlight glowed, but it didn't. I thought it sounded like a dodgy cap problem, so and I opened it up & gave it a visual inspection, but none of the caps looked obviously blown.

Incidentally my sister has the exact same TV, and has the very same issue when she left the TV unplugged for a few days once (now the TV is always left plugged in).

Have any of you guys seen this problem before? I searched here first but couldn't find the same issue with this TV.

Thanks in advance.

CURE:
Replace the old LCD panel (T315XW01V9 or *V901) by the AUO T315XW02-VD01.
REMARKS:
The earlier described solutions did not work properly.
Note: do NOT use the LED kit solution any more! From now on only implement above given solution.
The LED kit was 996510008912

Thanks for your reply. You suggest changing the panel itself? I didn't think it would be that big a problem.

A new panel is probably too expensive, my uncle would likely buy a new TV instead.

Thanks again.

Hi Kilroys,

Think gadge64 said no backlight - so why replace screen, and what's that 'LED' bit - curious - Chris.

Hi Dave, thanks for the advice.

Would you mind showing me which cap you are referring to?

Thanks a million.

Hello. Thought to "hijack" this thread as I have a quite similair problem as what is described here.

For about a month ago the screen started to look like the following,
http://h-tech.nu/~pcand/temp/P1020672.JPG (http://h-tech.nu/~pcand/temp/P1020672.JPG) and yeasterday after that I let it sit in this state
for roughly 20-30 minutes the picture managed to return.

How ever I have not a single clue what problem it might be.
It's just "broken" in my book hehe. The tv which I have is the , 32PF5331/12.

I have tried to google around but this forum was the closest and seems to be the best bet for a solution.

(sorry for the hijacking :P)
