Post by: Turnip on October 17, 2011,09:37:37
Hi folks,

Got what looks like a standard NPN SM transistor coded W1A - any idea what it is  ?  Thanks - Chris.

Hi Chris,

If the one next to it measures like an NPN you could try a general purpose BC846 or BC847.

Look this site, it convenient for search.
 http://www.ecadata.de/suchneu/such.php?F_SPRACHE=2&DATASHEET=casenorm&F_JEDEC=all&F_SEARCHFOR=JEDEC&PATH=/ddv/jedeccreatelist.php
Example for you transistor with marking W1A:

Not correct second address.
Need mark in sector "SMD-Code".

Hi Chris

2N3904 isn't smd, I'd try a BC846, and stand back :)

Hi Keith,

You're right of course, could have been a 2N3904U (SMD) admit wasn't my problem transistor but for a Quuq chap with Megmeet MLT668 troubles - now well sorted - we hope - Chris
