Hi folks,
Have one of these 'Morrison's' specials with a dark picture with flickering vertical bands mainly at the centre. Power board is AYP41801, Main CV109H and inverter CMO I315B1-16A. Screen a Chi Mei V315B1-L01.
Any thoughts on this one ? - Chris

hi chris
the eeproms are a stock fault on these sets, mainly causing stuck in standby faults, but yours sounds like a screen problem, have you attached the scart to another set to check pic?
i have one of these sets myself which is stuck in standby, another engineer has buggered about with it, he changed the fault from no freeview to stuck in standby, suspect corrupt eeprom, reluctant to buy eeprom incase he has caused more damage. perapse if mine uses the same screen (will check in the morning) you could send me your av and tcon pcb and i will check them on my screen and at the same time i will check your eeprom in my set to see if that is all that is wrong with it?
hopefully confirming the faults on both tvs
just a thought.

just checked, wrong screen, typical!!!!
would still be interested to try the eeprom if you decide the screen is the fault
thanks

Hi Daz and thanks,
Scart out pic is fine - took a pic with Scart in from a digibox as own pic too dark to see - looks like LDVS to me - anyone got a V315B1-C01 ?
Thanks again - If I land the set will send EEprom - Chris

hi chris
check the regs are kicking out the correct voltage , had a run of v320b1-c03 tcon pcbs which look identical to yours, give all sorts of graphics problems, due to low voltages out of the regs. you should have a 2.5v and a 3.3v reg on the pcb,
good luck

Hi Daz,
Just found a replacement LVDS from a S/smash - just the same pic, had checked 5v supply to be OK on the first one but will check reg voltages anyway - could be the reason for the S/smash on the Bush set.
Thanks - Chris.
Later - 2.5 and 3.3 not exactly on the button but OK

Hi Daz,
Gather that cust has a two year guarantee with Morrison's but can't find the receipt - Guess they'll say go whistle. Suggested Tesco next time 'cos I like Technika stuff as it's always down the local tip 'while still fresh' and makes the needy pound.
Should it be gifted, what EEprom bits do you need ? - Chris.

hi chris
its the small 8 pin ic next to the cpu,
check out the pic
thanks

Hi Daz,
Prob send entire board (if given) as my chip removal methods are sometimes a bit Neanderthal on a bad day - (just fouled up on the famed antique JVC '2 chips in holders' jobby after doing the first set OK, using yards of solder mop for the inevitable pin to pin shorts) - Over confidence I suppose - Chris
-
many thanks chris
have you still got my address?
-
Hi Daz,
Good thought, well, no - will slap my salvaged council tip XPs around a bit, but guess it's me not the machines - can't fault one yet on a non-entry failure to recover anything.
Never to be a winning politician or own a fashionable machine - Chris
PS - will Email should I win the set - have that on file, at least.
-
sent you my address, just in case
fingers crossed.

You do not have to replace any parts to cure that fault, just have to enter service mode and "correct" one setting. As I type this I can't remember which one but it is obvious when in service mode.
I have repaired several of these, all with the same fault as you have, and have not had any bounce, yet. It is simply eeprom corruption. It would be prudent, of course, to replace the eeprom for long term reliability.

Hi, The pictured fault looks the same as my Matsui and the panel is also very similar. Ken, do you know how to access service mode in this set? cheers, Doug
-
Hi folks,
Gather some service mode info might soon be available - Krob - last input (initially deleted, them replaced) thanks as you have done 'lots' but have neither (a good memory - or any EEprom files) quite nifty - Chris
-
I think possibly that Mr ken is a service engineer who would fix these sets under warranty not only does he run a successful repair company but does warranty work. He might not want to put a service mode that could possibly cripple a set on the net for all to see.
I think he might of been saying he'd have to look it up when he had time.
Possibly

I solved mine by changing the LVDS map (from 0 to 3) in service menu. Doug

Hi Andy - and thanks,
Confused of course but am not political these days - I just keep changing those caps - repeatedly - Thanks Doug in hope of the needy pound - seen current oil prices ? - Chris
-
Chris,
Not sure what you meant about being political, I'm glad my good friend was right otherwise it might of ment messing around with an eeprom which can of course put on faults that can't be sorted later.
I can't recall a time he's been wrong with repair help on the (many) times i've asked him, if he's unsure, he checks 1st.
Glad the set is working

Hi folks,
Many thanks to all for 'useful' advice. Source> 2580 then scroll to 'RESET ALL' did the job - nice one - thanks - Chris.
Thanks Andy, will change those caps - again - got to smile, well, a wee bit as not personally tied to any outlets with classifed info not given to domestic Quuq folks for professional health reasons - many thanks - Chris
