Title: GTV42P4 issue
Post by: froggystyle on November 15, 2011,14:18:10
Hi people!

I have had a goodmans GTV42P4 in my basement for about 4 years now, it went pop and lost the picture at the time, thought no more of it and dumped out the way...

Thinking about it today and had another google and came acorrs this site, i see there is a simaler problem on here with a GTV42P6 so i would hope its the same problem, i just plugged it in to see if it still powers up, red standby light shows on the front and then after a few seconds changes to blue.

I can hear something buzzing lightly as it used to.

But alas no picture.

So the question is would it be an easy fix, i can solder and am clever enough to know how to handle such things.

Would pictures help anyone give advice?

Hopefully one of you kind people can point me in the right direction, i really do not want to go out and purchase another one as this cost me £1000 about 7 years ago.

Thanks in advance
Dave

tips
Goodmans GTV42P4 Plasma, sound no picture.

FETS S/c SPW1N80C3 on main PSU pcb. Top on large heatsink. Also replaced drive ic's KA7557 x3 and 22R wirewound right side by relay. Found I needed a preheater to remove parts.

GOODMANS GTV42P4 dead psu
Fitted mod kit 60,also replaced st,by transformer, now still no results, have checked caps.
I've heard that if you remove the opto in the kit from the board and replace it, then it works! Never had it happen to me but thats the rumour!
Try a PC817 or PC123 from another board.
I followed advice fitted a PC123 and it worked

or
Goodmans GTV42P4    (sim Bush PDP42TV003)
Model near indentical with Beko L6B also using LG Sus panels

RCU – RM2305 seems to do most functions
Panels in stock – Main Power and signal only
Power – 2 modules – main and (minor Li Shin  0223B used also in LCD)
1.   Modkit 60   available comprising:- IC2001 (FSD200), D2001 (B250/1500v), D2005 (FUF4007), R2002 and R2003 (both 22k/3w)  Before completing replace the 12v zener if used and the 2n2 2kv snubber in the primary of the power supply. Also check/replace R1001 (SMD of some value)
2. Check Q204/4, R103 and R108. If LED 8003 is lit, replace D116 on S/by PCB (Tv John)
Y-Sus  LG42V6 6870QYE008C
1.    Sparklies. Replace C36,C72 and C203 (all 33/16) then adjust V up and down pots.
Z-Sus  LG42V6 6870QZE013C
1.     Important to check 15V supply from Y-Sus correct and stable or Z Sus will continue to fail.
2.     Update on 42v6.. removed the circuit under the heat sink on zsus - a right royal pain in the ass that was... the problem is in that circuit - q8, 9, 10 & 11 built into the pcb - q8 had exploded off the pcb into bits - left a nice mark on the mainboard, q10 & 11 not too healthy either !! these 'q' parts are apparently PDP Trench IGBT - you can directly replace these parts (once you dig n level the dead ones) with IRGB4055PbF IRGS4055.. these are available from rs components !! woohoo !! :) £5.50 each but its cheaper than the scammers on ebay selling you a 5 year old replacement board at near the new prices !! Once i've got the replacements i will photograph they're connection, test & re-post again on here.. maybe it will help someone else ;)
Main  Beko L6B

Picture.
1.  Picture pixelating with a squealing noise. Check the IC in U454 position. If it's a LM2576 change it to a LM2596S part No. 453007. Note that it is a Beko power supply, and in later sets the power panel has been changed again.

January 2010. 3rd Paul from the tip. Initially thought power supply problem, had both power panels from a screen smash (hadn’t at that time checked the screen – thought to look and noticed a weakish snowy washed-out looking picture) Checked and found Fuse FS1 (4A T) on Z-Sus blown. Replaced fuse, switched on and sparks shot out from under central heat sink. Replaced Z-Sus – provisionally OK, bur with sparklies. Replaced 3 x 33/16 with 47/35 and adjusted – bit better.

Bit of an update,

Pulled the 4 fuses out last night aftermarking up where they came from and tested them today.

One of the panels has two fuses on it, its the one in top right of the back of the tv as you look at it, one of these has blown T2AH250V.

Not sure if this indicates anything to anyone???

I will get a new fuse today and pop it in to see if the same one blows again..

Does anyone know if these fuses are slow or fast blowing please?
