Title: Neon C1997F - odd sound

Hi folks,

Have one of these where DVB is perfect but all other inputs including DVD,  sound is very overloaded - audio can be adjusted but distortion is incredible.

Thought to try 'Reset All' - made no difference. Note options for 'Special reset' and 'Shipping mode' in service menu but thought to ask advice B4 giving them a try.

Any thoughts ? - Thanks - Chris.

Sorry can't help with this directly ..
I still have a C1997F on the bench minus its flash eprom ...
Still desperately trying to find a way to clone these 25x32 type devices ...
But ..if its of any help ....once I've refitted the eprom ...I'll try and access the service menu ..and note down the settings ..
Ideally ..I could send a dump of the flash ...But still struggling to read this dual layer ..protectable device ..
I suspect certain blocks to be locked ..an thus only have a partial read up to now..
Programming a clone ..now theres a whole other set of problems..
Also have yet to even get my willem to talk to the chip ...see my other thread requesting help on this matter..
Sometimes I wonder about this job ..and the lack of inormation and help put into public domain by the manufactures..
Sure they want to protect their intelectual property ..but refuse to make a simple 8 pin pre programmed device available to the engineer...thus writing off the bricked TV and forcing the customer to buy new..

Admit I'm not much for serious Eeprom work quite yet - just write the sets orf and use the bits.

More power to your Willem (whatever it is) Trust you will clue any other ignorant folks, like me.

Ok Chris ..
The flash eprom has been re-fitted ...and so I can now access service mode ..
Not much in the sound menu ..just treble and base adjustment ...
If there is anything specific you want me to check ...short of performing any resets ..
Ask ..and I'll do my best to check for you

Customer has collected set - told him it was great with DVB, just forget the rest - Morrison's for me, lots of spares in line - Chris
