Hi...again...I like it here
Got a 17pw26-4 both fets (q813/q814) have s/c'd and was wondering how do you test IC830...the IC is a fan7711 do you test in circuit/out of circuit and what pins do I check with DMM so you confirm its fubar'd
Thanks in advance people

Hi Scoob ..
If its directly connected to the blown fets ..I'd be inclined to just change it for what it costs ..
but if it helps ..
Here's the pdf

Cheers for the pdf Evan...just a shame I cant read latin :57:
Going to take the hit and buy the fets and FAN7711
Thanks again

Situations like this is where I'm a great fan of stripping components from old boards to give you a ready supply to try, by all means replace with a new component once you've verified the fault but saves buying a lot of stuff on a what if basis

Scoob.. pin 4 ground pin5 low output pin 7 high output so test 4 to 7 for an output and 4 to 5 although depending on input load etc it isnt always as simple some wont switch unless under load so it is as evan said sometimes easier to just pop a new one in.... ah... come back valves all is forgiving .. if it lights up its working ! who needs a bloody meter !

Hi Jim.
I have got another 17pw26-3 with the FAN7711 on it the fets are not s/c'd but out of circuit they do give strange readings I have found the fets and ic for a tenner on flebay so going to get them.
Thanks for the readings...I am going to go with new to be sure
Valves...didnt they power the arc...saying that though I was looking at a valve amp recently in a specialist stereo store...looked the business, sounded the business....just crapped a brick at the price, with hyperactive kids, wii remotes and sticky up lighty things popping out the top of an amp do not mix...I can even hear that distinct popping noise now...followed by that distinct noise of "It wasnt me"

well if my biblical knowledge serves mew the ark did work ! :08:

Because it was driven by valves...and not fets, ic's, bulgy caps and dodgey eprom's
