Title: The very basics in lcd fault finding part 2

how do i tell if the fault i am seeing is an UNFIXABLE screen fault.Well thats a good question,if you have a coloured line down the screen,or multiple lines.A bar down the screen also.Tea staining or cloud effects or any dark patches.Left part of screen ok right side dark or lighter,might be t-con board or ribbon but prob screen.Darkish picture with a slow motion effect.Any cracks to screen itself are unfixable.Switching on and seing a spiders web effect anywhere on the screen.somtimes a rolling bar accross sreen.prob lots more maybe my betters would like to contribute to list.    Hope nobody minds all this if so will stop,But cant see it harming any real engineers.

wish I knew some " real " engineers ! 40 years pottering about with Edison and logie bairds brain childs and still havent earned that title !

Just trying to help a few newbies,maybe also stopping a few repetative questions,clogging up the site.  G8s and the 205s those were the days.If memory serves.But it was so long ago, but nobodys having my rose coloured glasses off me.

Personally I loved those Philips/Pye sets you just had a load of plug and play cards for ! ah life was easy ! mitsubishi black diamonds with dry joints a plenty.... they say your def getting old when you look back more often than you look forward!

As a basic rule with a screen, if its permanent, its probably past repair the the possible exception of image retention.

Hi Gartons,

Some of us Quuq folks are technicians - we try mend but don't always have the maths of engineers who don't actually mend anything but theorise for ever about the mending biz.

Complex issue -guess Quuq folks will have thoughts - Chris

PS -  Glad you didn't mention later Philips tubed sets where M/proc probs clouded me pink specs, then more recent ones that won't DVB update.
