hi all
anyone know what the cause of this dark square in the centre of the lcd screen is. picture can be seen through the square but colours seem off. one inch border all around the square is perfectly normal picture.
could it be screen burn?

Hi,
In my halcyon days the ion trap magnet was the biz preventing screen burn - guess it's LVDS, what is it ? Quuq chaps might just have one for modest cash - Chris

hi and merry xmas and new year to everyone.
thanks for the opinions but as a complete novice i dont have a clue as to what to do about this. seems a shame to just scrap the damn thing, as apart from the dark square the tv works perfectly.
would it be worth putting it in for repair?

Hi John,
What LVDS ? Give us numbers - Chris

I have seen LCDs fade from the outside in when LVDS is disconnected or power disconnected; suspect a dodgy T-con. On the T-con possibly a bad step-up rail (shorted or leaky MLCC possible.)
