Hi
My TV is switching to standby mode with 2 blinks, as soon as I power up.
I had just fixed the 'dark screen' syndrome and it ran great for 10mins....great picture! But...may have overheated, since I had the component side facing the bed sheets! (idiot)! And, heat may not have dissipated efficiently, You can hear a relay clicking noise on the PSU IP5 board as the led power light changes from green to red within 1 second.
Can some person advise on what's the problem and remedy?
Could it be a PSU fault, and if so, the most likely board that's the cause.
I need to be sure what the problem is before a possible fix or purchase.
cheers
Roland

Hi,
Let me confirm if my understanding is right;
You were fixing the LCD tab problem with the tv face up on the bed.
You fixed the 'dark screen' issue and the tv ran fine for 10 minutes.
<what happened next?>
Now when you attempt to turn on the tv, the power LED turns from red to green, there is a click but it goes straight back to the power LED flashing two blinks of red? (any flashes on the screen before it goes back to flashing the red LED)
Sounds like its going into self diagnosis mode. The clicking sound is normal - when powering up/down mine gives off a prominent click. Presumably yours also clicks when it goes back to flashing red LED?
According to the service manual, two red blinks = 02 DC_DET (12V main voltage). VERD - I'm sure the more experienced members can expand on that.
What you could also try is to see if it will go into the 'self-diagnosis' screen; In standby mode, press the following sequence of buttons in quick succession on the remote control:
i+ button (on screen display) > 5 (digit 5) > - (volume down) > I/O (tv power/standby)
This should bring up the 'errors screen' where you can scroll through the log.
You say you had it component side down on bedding while working on it - not ideal but from memory it has two large frame rails down the middle which would have given it some clearance. You could go back and do a visual check on the components to check for any that might have been bent over or dislodged by the bedding. Also check all connectors are seated properly.
Thanks.

Hi Mark
Thanks for taking the time to help solve my TV fault.
Originally the screen became dark, roughly 2/3rds across the whole screen.
Having fixed the problem, poor sleeve connections to screen, The TV ran fine in an upright position.
I then laid the TV face down on the bed duvet in order to refit the detached parts, bezel etc. (TV off).
I powered up again to be sure all was OK, but that's when the LED went straight to standby mode (red).
No screen picture or sound.
I agree with you that component overheating is unlikely because there was some air free-flow circulation and, also there were no burning smells or visible signs of component failure.
I will try the remote sequence you have advised. I think you are correct in saying that the TV is going into 'self-diagnosis' mode.....I hope so anyway.
I will contact you again with the result.
I appreciate your valued help
Cheers
