Title: Dyson ball vac problem
Post by: Turnip on January 31, 2012,11:47:56
Hi folks,

Mend the odd vacuum cleaner - esp. Dyson crumbly plastic types. The recent 'ball' cleaner has a detachable front brush/motor assy so as to attach the hose to attack dirt from a distance.

Connector burns out of course - Dyson supplies no replacement connector, just a front brush motor bit, and the rest of the cleaner bit.

Spent some time on Ebay trying to find socket inserts, as the plug ends usually survive - found nothing similar so thought to ask the brains of Quuq - as they never lack some useful suggestion.

Bit like Brian Cox and Dara O'Brien and without that ghastly music - Thanks - Chris.

Hi Chris

Which model is it?

Must admit I have never had a problem with these connectors, they seem to be available for the DC 18 but currently out of stock!

Hi Keith,

Just the biz, but where can we now not get them from - checked RS with their thousands of possibilities - now't

Glad to be retired, but wife needs to suck for both carpets and lofty spiders.

Wives do this I'm told, but never quite comprehended - poss their mothers influence - met the wife's mother - won't attach a piccy, as Quuq folks should be ever cool/never stressed - just like our Sparky - Chris

Hi Chris

I use connect distribution, but they only deal with the trade and they send someone out to check before they give you an account, buyspares.co.uk is their retail side.
If it's a DC18. this may be the part you need

Evening, again, Keith,

Seems for some suppliers, lead time for the bits that don't fail is a month at least - others won't give a date.

Dyson's used to be made in GB where we could slap and/or offer him more gongs for his crumbly plastic rubbish - Gather, for reasons of Tax and suspect Tory retributiation possibilities he's now a long way offshore.

Hoover Junior for me - solid lasting metal and a zippy bag one might squeeze - if in that sort'a mood - belt you could change from the front without dissembly, women loved em and gave us decent food at tea-time, and without a grouse - nice times, the 50's  - Chris

Hi Chris

It's not always easy to get some Dyson parts. Dyson don't really sell spares as they have a team of mobile technicians.
Mr Dyson doesn't really worry about it! I think he still lives in Dodington House, paid £20 million for it back in about 2000, then pissed every one off by moving assembly out of Malmesbury to save a few quid, well that is a big mortgage! research and development is still located in Malmesbury. We used to play in Dodington Park as kids, avoiding the entrance fee by climbing over the very high walls. Never seen Mr D in any of the local pubs, but I moved away from the area anyway.

Try http://www.spares247.co.uk
