I'm no expert but if people post things like that how the hell do they expect any help. :72:
Just takes a few screws to identify things (that sounds bad!), there are part numers you can research on google, that would be a good starting point to newbies. :sign0144:
Just a few thoughts from me, feel free to add more. :wink1:

..and Iv got this set coming in. I havent checked anything or seen it yet but..help

Reminds me of stories I was told by my father who was in the trade for decades. From women telling him "my husband says he's sure it's only a resistor thing that's broken, won't cost much" to lengthy tales of what they were watching at the time, what the characters were doing, what they were eating while watching the programme, and how "it was working perfectly before that, I just don't understand it!" :72:
Funny how things are often working before they fail... seems to surprise so many customers.

Well in my youth, I worked saturdays in a tv repair / component shop.
I could guarantee at least one every day would come into the shop and simply ask to buy a "Picture Valve"
Of course they didn't have the old valve with them, nor the make and model of the set, and probably didn't even know for sure the fault was as simple as a duff valve.
-
So what you saying you would not sell a valve ,the best faults
we had when using pinnacle vales were alway's frame collapse
not many chargeable they all seem to fail in rental tv,s

So what you saying you would not sell a valve
No use selling any old valve. If the guy comes into the shop asking for a "picture valve" but doesn't have the old valve, doesn't even know what type of valve, what would you do, pick one at random and sell him one?
-
hi
yes then when he came back suggest going out to repair
and knock the cost of pic-tube of thats what our old firm
did in the 70's some times got a sale

Hi Chris,
Have you found a spare 'Tenner' in your back pocket? are you going to make an appearance on the 'other' site?
Brian

Hi Brian - no such luck,
Had a gander at other forums, as you do, and found most other sites folks don't have a screwdriver or don't know which end to hold.
Being brought up mending colour tellies (green - only) using VCR97 from WW2, find recent developments a bit testing, but will flog on - wife has this little decorating list I'm keen to avoid.
Confess firmware up-date stuff is current fun - Chris
PS - Hi Davenjax - no, just had too many plasma in recently - hate 'em, as country folks want change from a tenner, so I can't afford to try the 'other' site that Brian suggests.
