Title: Hyundai HLT-3270 Dead

Looking at this for a friend, fairly old tv but might be worth saving, anyway it is dead no standy light and no voltages coming out of the psu, can hear the hv on the mains side which pulses every 20 seconds or so

I see there is a repair kit for this board which is BP-170AWL but the symptoms are blown fuse which this has not, checked for cold solder jpints etc, seems a hot spot around the 2 resistors in the centre? anyone any pointers? where to start?

I thought that but it's 20 quid+ post, psu listed on ebay just now at 39 or best offer

Check P105/ST5v.
should be 5v, if less change C849 100uF/10v

Thanks for the reply, I dont see the locations you mention? all the caps locations are 2 digits, connectors are cn1 cn2 and cn3

A common cause of a dead hyundai hlt 3270 (where the fuse in tv is not blown) is faulty caps on the secondary side of the chopper transformer and a shorted schottky rectifier -  it's mounted on a heat sink along with  another schottky. The psu can be heard "ticking" You will be lucky to find a direct replacement for the schottky although if you search hard enough you might locate a direct replacement. When you get one with the fuse blown on the power board you will need to fit a repair kit. I suggest re capping the power board too at the same time.
