Hi folks,
Have one of these where at switch on, relays click and front led does five flashes repeatedly - no sound or picture.
Any pointers ? Thanks - Chris.

Hi
5V sos on A board

Hi Chris,
I didn't know you worked on posh Tellies!
There is a common problem on these sets where the FETs on the Sustain board fails(other manufacturers call it Z sus) if they have failed you will need to upgrade the firmware to avoid repeat failure
Brian
P.s the parts can be bought in a kit

Hi Paul, will check it out - thanks.
Hi Brian - Posh Tories still grind our faces - it's Norfolk with serfs and villains still tugging at bald heads - lost most head hair in the 60's, but as Shakespeare was known to be bald but awful sexy, no worries.
Youngish wife denies this as a devout Radio 2 fan - What's Radio 2 ? - or anything but 4 for sense and 4 extra for Goon show repeats.
Can't yet get a handle on 4 extra hero 'Count Arthur Strong' but guess you're a fan - Chris.
PS - Thanks, will check Fets on Z-Sus - board to the right, I guess - as ever was - who does the kit and firmware ? - Chris
-
Hi Chris
if the FETS are S/C let me know and I will send you firmware and part number for kit

Hi Folks, and thanks for help.
Found that D253 (VDYG971S8R) on power board was S/C and the fets on Z-Sus seem OK reading 10 Ohms one way and infinity the other at top test point to deck.
Can't find anything on D253, any ideas as to a substitute - BY127 perhaps ? - Thanks - Chris.
PS - removing PS to check - D253 diode short disappeared, find same power feed also goes to Y-Sus where several FETs seem S/C - have the sinking feeling of that lost pound - any more thoughts, Plasma folks - LCD/LED/LSD Screens for me, far greener and fewer technical probs - Chris.

Hi Chris
If you have S/C Fets on the scan board(Ysus) then you need to remove the buffer boards(SU and SD) and check if there are any S/Cs from the ribbon connectors to earth, you will also need to get a magnifying glass and scrutinise the screen for blown pixels.
If you have a blown pixel then put the back on and forget it!
If you have a S/C on one of the buffer boards then you will need to replace the faulty buffer and the Ysus board. If you replace the Ysus and you have a faulty buffer then you can 'blow' the new Ysus board, which is the opposite to a samsung or LG
Good Luck

Hi Brian, and thanks a lot.
Had a word with cust about probable cost, he got on to the Co-oP, they got on to Panasonic and a freebie job is in the air - as should be after just two years.
Got a nice bottle - Chris.

Hi Brian,
As a known Quuq brain and humourist you're always appreciated. Confess wife drinks the bottles as she can't handle native stuff - she's a city gal where milk and stuff comes in bottles, and meat has no legs just plastic wrapping.
Out to knobble those sweet baby rabbits for the pot - Chris.
