Hi everyone
I have been given an alba LCD32880HDF.
I was told it would come on then the picture would go but the sound was ok, When I got it home i tried it and when you first switch it on the picture cam on but the volume slider was decreasing then the picture would go off. After a bit more testing I found if you switch it on by pressing a number button it would say no channels have been added etc etc, But the picture would stay on for as long as you want, If you press the menu button a few times to bring the menu up it would scroll through the menus on its own and i was unable to select any of them except randomly. Now I bought a new board supposedly a working one but when it is fitted the power light flashes constantly unless you unplug the tcon board in which case the screen would light up with the backlights but obviously no picture, The strange thing is this tcon board works with the other board in it.
Probably missed something out so any further info needed please ask but has anyone any ideas what could possibly be wrong.
The boards both have the same number btw 17MB25-3 V1 060309.#any help would be greatfully received.

Hi,
Normally scrolling through Menus', and volume changing on its own, is one of the 'tip'
switches leaky on the cabinet button strip (Vol+/- Ch+/- Etc).
I would probably put the original PCB back, then disconnect this button strip connector.
(if it has a physical on-off switch on the strip, this is Okay, as I think the switch is
open-circuit for the PS to work).
Then try operating the set with the handset.
Worth a try,
Regards,
John.

Thanks for the reply John I wondered if it was the switches doing it myself. I removed them last night and cleaned the sticky pad off them and tried touching the pads. None of them seem to work until you get down to the volume down button then about three of them work in a short distance if that makes sense?
Unfortunately I cant remove them to try it as the set knows they have been removed and wont switch on at all. Is there any way to fool the set into thinking they are still connected at all do you know.
I notice you are in Wales I am from wrexham in north wales myself.

Hi,
Try putting a wire link between the two connections on the the two pin, red socket
on the power-supply, these are the on/off connections for the switch on the button
strip (I thought they were open circuit for the PS to switch on, but looks like the need
shorting together), then unplug this strip and try again.
Regards,
John.

Thanks for the reply and all your help John. I dont remember seeing a red connector in the set when I had the back off. I have located a set of switches and they are in the post to me as we speak. I will let you know how I get on.
Once again thank you very much for your help.

update for you guys, I ordered a switch panel and when it came it is the same as the one i have here only its the channel up button that seems to be stuck so I need to return it. So I shorted out the yellow and black that go to the panel and the tv is now up and running, Thank you very much for all your help John and I will no doubt be back in the future with more tv related problems lol.
