Title: Samsung LE26R88bd
Post by: dynomo on October 25, 2012,02:23:41
I have a Samsung LE26R88BD in for repair with a strange fault. The tv will switch on and off repeatedly or at times run fine, maybe for a day or so. I checked the PSU caps and they are fine but i changed them anyway, all voltage rails are perfect. I noticed when the restarting fault occures i get no sound, or picture but the back lights are running fine and the on screen channel number ishown on screen but I am locked out of changing inputs or changing the channel. I have disconnected the tcon and inverter but doing so makes no difference to the fault when the tv is restarting over and over. I noticed when the set has been on for some time the restarting issue slowly goes away. Picture when its running is good. Tried freeze and heating methods but makes no difference to the fault. Main board fault?

Check 3V regulator on top left section of main board

Checked the regulator, 3.3volts output with 5.2 volts in.

I did a plug and play reset and seem to have lost the digital menu now. Pushing digital menu leads to nothing, DTV shown on screen, so menus working but nothing picture wise. Set is cycling on and off again even though it was running fine before the reset. What ever is happening is very intermittant. I watched the set all day yesterday without one glitch.

Update
Solved this one after much playing around. Found the main BGA chip on AV board had a dry joint. Replaced the main AV board as a second hand one turned up for a £10. Alls working great now.
