Title: Tecnika 22 inch dvd combi's
Post by: jimca007 on December 18, 2012,17:38:12
Hi guys prob like me you've had lots of these cheap and nasty combi's come in faulty. Just thought I'd mention that lately I've had about half a dozen showing symptoms of inverter failure ie short flash dark screen on further investigation every one of them actually has dried or burnt solder contacts going onto the tubes. Very simple to resolder the leads back on job done ! Might save someone else the merry-go-round of popping in new inverters, checking psu's blah blah it took me a while to catch what was happening but now its always worth a quick look before getting dug in !

kinda sounds more software than hardware, the white screen and unresponsive buttons would suggest incomplete start routine and the software "hanging" ie getting stuck and going no further. Could be due to low voltage from the psu the wee 1000uf caps on the output of the psu were really prone to going down, pop a couple new ones in they're cheap enough to take a punt ! As a wee side issue the technika universal remote, its a little black one sold in most Tesco stores,  work these a treat first code in the list popped in and everything works !

Not to presume to pop your bubble in  any way sparky but my retirement was kinda forced and unexpected and took quite a bit of getting used to especially getting my brain to communicate with my mouth and say no when the phone went promising pounds !

unfortunately as your probably all too well aware in this line every days a school day and you kinda learn on your feet in short shift before you know it your skill set is obsolete although it doesnt really matter if your no longer using them anyway, standing mid way up the staircase idly wondering am I going to the loo or have I just been !

Hi Jimca,

Had several, and the old home made ccfl tester shows them up every time.

Trust our Sparky will still have withering comments after retirement, and not go on to the 'other site' in the sky preserved for true believers in 'The Mag'.

All the best, mending folks - must admit, as Sparky said - things are a bit thin this Crimble. Padding it out with mending a beer-making PH tester and the odd LED taxi light, where 19 of the 21 leds were duff.

Couldn't survive without FleaBay for the bits  - Chris

PS - Spend inordinate time on the stairs, these days - tell 'em it's the knees.

luckily Chris still get many complete sets from a certain yard with big skips where the guys always appreciate a wee gratuity ! This serves the majority of my spares needs especially now that i'm scaling down I'm just not quite at the stage I can turn down a good looking set with a minor fault .....the lure of those portraits of her Majesty is still too great to ignore ! :33:
