Title: LG 42lh3000 faulty t-con? Need some help please. Bit of a strange one.
Post by: dynomo on January 13, 2013,14:27:51
LG 42LH3000 . Sounds ok, have picture with no parts missing or lines but its like an infrared image and has a slight rolling going on with the picture. PSU voltages all ok. I have attached pictures.

I thought t-con is faulty? Or maybe main AV board. Strange one.

Any help most appreciated .

I have a similar model which I believe uses the same parts but not 100% sure. I have a problem with half the screen then being black then before it starts to come back it starts to show half the picture similar to this from time to time. It does look as though many LGs have similar problems but different people have had to replace different parts to fix it.

Sorry I cant be of more help but would be interested to know what fixes yours as it may help to fix mine

Hi

I have not seen this model with that type of issue before,
I believe it has AU Optronic screen and they are Notorios for the panel failure especially one side going dark.
In your case, I doubt it is the T-con but more of an AV Board failure.

Hi, yes this one has the AU Optronic Screen. I don't think this one is a screen issue as the picture is complete and even in brightness all over. I was starting to think more towards the fault being the main AV board myself. I have never seen one with this fault either so was not 100% I was correct. I will try to get another AV board and see what happens. Should be plenty of those around as the panel I know are prone to failing. Thanks for your input ! 2 heads sometimes work better than one.

No one is ever nosey. Always plz'ed to hear any ones advice. I cannot seem to get into service menu on this set. I think LG from memory locked out the service menu with the newer firmware? This set has the latest 3.75.0 version firmware found on LG's website. I guess I would need to downgrade back to 3.24 to get the service menu back ?

I've had the same problem with my LG, but it's not the same model.
Mine was missing 3.4V from PSU

I did check the supply, will double check it. Thanks.

Update, supply is working to spec  20v  12v  5.2v  5.2v

It's either the panel control board or the Av board. I don't have any spares to swap them out sadly.
