Title: Panasonic 42PE30B
Post by: dreampeople on January 29, 2013,21:06:58
Hi All, new here so please try not to stone me too quick  :c023: I am also new to plasma repair, being more of a PC / Console nerd!

I have an old Panasonic 42PE30, its been sat in the basement for a few months, was working (kids were using it), however its developed 9 flashes from the front power LED.

Service manual seems to define it as a SUS Driver issue.

I have taken the back off, the two LED's on the SS Board light after a couple of relay clicks, then turn off (one after each relay release).

Have a couple of questions that may help me diagnose this...

1.  Does the 9 led flash error usually point to a specific board (in your experience), which?
2.  What is the diagnosis path for this error? Can't find anything in the SManual, guess its something you TV guys have learned from experience.

Thanks for all your help guys, and please remember, we were all new at something once :)

Steve

Haven't got the manual but if its pointing at a specific board go round with a meter on all transistors diodes and fets checking for shorts. You'll probs find loads reading short until you unsoler legs and retest.

The Panasonic error codes do point to a specific board/s but they cant always be taken on trust. 9 blinks points to the Sus Driver (SS board). Disconnect the SS from the Power Supply, switch on, see if you get a different code. As clark97 suggests, check the FETs and diodes on the SS for short circuits.
