Samsung UE40C5100QWXXU
I have one of these in for repair. Set was dead. Check the PSU over which is a BN44-00353A . Both fuses on the mains input FS801s and FS802s T6.3A rating both blown but no short found? Rectifier all ok. I have not change the fuses just yet incase anyone knows something I don't :sign0085:

Remove fuse and Place 200 watt lamp on it and see the result.

Yep thats one way to do it . I am old school, see a 6.3 amp fuse going out and something is normally a miss for sure. I expected to see a good short somewhere, but find nothing. :33:
2 fuses blown top left of board.

Place a test lamp and see the load

Thankyou Jordan ! Much Appreciated. :c017:

Thanks to Jordan posting the schematic I have found the problem. Found 8.5k ohms across bridge rectifier + - After some investigation found CP818 / 100pf at 1KV burnt on the side. I guess under rectified mains the caps resistance was only a few Ohms. Enough to take out the 6.3amp fuses.
Thanks Jordan ! :sign0098:

You are a most respected for me but I am really surpriesd your eye test level of circuit board is very weak. This was a basics of repair and you should upgrade your skills.

You should of gone to specsavers....I take it Imran, you have never missed a blown component, I wish I had a £1 for every blown/burnt component I missed after looking boz-eyed for 15-30minutes.
And sometimes...just sometimes, if you have a major short on a SMPS and the usual suspects (Fets, Bridge, etc) have not SC'd then it can be a "b***ox" moment, fair play to you Dynomo, some people dont even bother about schematics/component level repair, they would of been on flebay ordering a new board.

Problem is I do go to spec savers LOL.
Eyes are not great after 25 years of electronic fun :72:
I missed this burnt component. Problem was you looked at it from above and from one side it looked fine at a quick glance.
Good job I did not try Imrans 200 watt lightbulb trick. Would of blinded myself with all that light. :57:

Imran wants us to all go to his forum, it's the one with the log in problems & bad grammar. Imran, if you upgraded your skills that wouldn't happen, you also might not of put yourself as being from Luxembourg when you registered here. :s_laugh:
