Title: Bush BPDP42HD2 - otherwise Sammy S42AX-YB09 No Piccy
Post by: Turnip on August 22, 2013,11:38:11
H Folks,

Have one of these in where sound is present via Scart but there is just a brief snowy flash RH side screen. Replaced P/S as I had a good one - no different, and a constant Green led.

Checked voltages, some were OK but no VS. Thought buffer chips so checked fets - checked them all - No shorts.

Run out of ideas - Any thoughts - Thanks - Chris.

Hi Chris
Check the z sus for short fets and the buffer PCB for shorts across the caps, even if you find no shorts the screens are a stock fault on this set, they are utter junk. If you find any shorts don't bother replacing the parts as they will fail again.
I have seen many of these and they almost all ended up in the skip!
Happy days
Daz

Hi Daz and thanks,

Will follow your advice and suggest dumping it. Cust says after some 14 months as happy owner, Bush is crap and next time will buy a Sammy. Won't say a word - Thanks again - Chris

If it runs with sustain and drive voltages present then I'm supprised it has a faulty xsus, these are designed differently to older ones and the vs / va rises & falls to 15v or there shorts. i've fixed a few with no come back. If your going to scrap all plasmas that are crappy and cheap then you'd be better off not taking them it as its most of the new ones.
We have scrapped more than we've fixed though :73:, still, the ssb is easy to get to and there are nice and light to carry  :86:

Perhaps you could provide details of successes you have had with this particular make and model, including fault description and solution found?

I've had a couple of these recently with Tcon failure. Worth a try if you have a spare.
