Title: hdmi to lvds converter
Post by: derek007 on May 06, 2014,06:27:53
Hi

I have a query re. LVDS with particularly reference to LCD TV.

ALL TV LCD/LED screens are driven by the TCON (timing and control) board, which in turn has an LVDS input connector from the main tv board. In order to test both the TCON board and LCD screen, I would like to generate an "external" LVDS signal and attached it to the LVDS input of the TCON board.

I thought of getting an hdmi source (pc, dvd player etc), connecting the hdmi output to a "hdmi to LVDS converter board" and connect the LVDS to the TCON board and hopefully see on the TV LCD/LED whatever is playing on the pc, dvd player. Sounds too simple, surely there must be some programming involved to match resolution, refresh rates etc.

Many thanks, dericko :33:

Thanks for getting back.

I want something to help me repair/fault find lcd/led TV's.

I am after an hdmi to lvds converter so that a can plug an hdmi source into the converter which is then converted to lvds which can be plugged into the lvds input of a TCON board which drives the lcd/led panel. This should at least let me know if the tcon, cabling and lcd panel are working.

How long have you had the unit ? Does it work fine ?

I am looking at an lcd controller card ALR1400 from digiview and another card from Chalk Electronics - still undecided. Any feedback would be gratefully received.
