Mine just wont turn on,I got no blinking light,sound...just dead, and after watching video on U-tube;it seem that most the time it's a capacitor that blew up or some real cheap part.
so any one here can guide me on what to check or test first?
so far I check the power cord all the way to the power board by doing
a continuity test.
then see pic below;
#1 seem to be the one that break but if I compare it to a new one;
on the 2uf scale the new one read .063 and the one on the board read .069,should I still change it?
#2 is those 3 cap I decide to test, those 3 cap are 450V and 150uf and on the 200uf scale they all read 1 (this was done with cap still on the board),they should read 150uf +- 10% no????
#3 well I was just wondering about this one
or should I check other stuff?
thanks for any help.

And after checking the fuses?????

Hi Rickmav,
As Tony says - first check the fuses, esp as it's totally dead. If they're OK need to move on to the S/by power supply that feeds the main board to turn the set on.
Note the P/S Caps look OK, so it's getting complex, so you need a schematic and experience if you're really serious about a mend.
Good luck, not met one yet - Chris.

thanks for the reply
and yes I did check those 2 fuse, also the fuse on the X,Y board,I also check the power cord all the way to
the power board (near the fuse).
those 3 caps(#2 on pic) does visually look good but should I get a reading on my capacitance tester?
also a test I made, with the TV plug in and I touch the "touch pad button" in front bottom right;I can ear
a faint "tick" near the board where all the outside plugin are (cable/speaker/usb....) witch is way on the opposite side, could be just static and not related?
a test I would like to make;up to where they should be power when the TV is plugin and turn off? and can this be tested safely?

not being funny it might be best to take it to a tv tech for quote,

the part that is broken cost 10$ at most,if not less
a tech dude here want 350$+ just to look at it.
those TV,plasma or LCD should have a built in cooling fan like a laptop, they produce too much heat
and I think once you past 41°+ Celsius reading coming from the top exhaust hole behind the screen, this where
where and why those TV dont last long.
brand new LCD from Samsung,on day 1 show reading of 38°C, so add dust with time and/or worst;smoke from
cigarette and in no time this 38°C will skyrocket way above 41° ,and the warranty say;this TV can only be use
below 40°C.

that does sound a bit much m8, just thinking it's quick an easier for you, as i'm not sure what your experience you have looking inside a tv,and what test equipment you have, don't want you poking stuff in and getting a shocked and end up brown bread, you have come to the right place there's some fantastic techs on here. thanks

Hi Shaun,
Well said -
'Fantastic' is pushing the boat out a bit - Most of my customers say 'cheap, moderately fast and ever cheerful'
Well - I need the cash for extended retirement and eschew extensive theorising so go for cheap replacement panels from 'The Flea'
Guess 'Bruce' will have his 'Downunder' thoughts, chasing faults down to each individual dubious component.
Off to 'Flea Bay' - Chris.

i repair tv's for a hobby to get me away for my boring job as a welder. in the last 2 weeks i've repaired 15 tv's not blowing my trumpet, but had do a lot research into the faults. ok most were capacitors faults, so i was lucky
on most of them. and had a lot of help off this site do to likes of yourself tv tony marky marky jordon downunder sparky just few to mention, they say when your lost ask a policeman. so when your lost inside a tv ask a tv tech, i take my hat off to you guys for sharing your knowledge and for sharing your jobs, as i always say thanks for your time. :c017:

Hi t1412,
As an old fart, retired way back in the last century with a decent pension that folks got at the time. Still need try mend tellies as television is tedious on most every channel, and my passion for veggies is limited to the summer months.
Well into car welding in former years - Still have 'Gas' 'Stick' and the ones where MIG jobs were tipped when the wire feed didn't as wire was rusty - With cheap C02 from the local pub, as Argon didn't seem much the biz.
Folks mentioned are truly great - Several nearly as old as me.
Not so cool with policemen, as there are issues - Chris
