Hi folks,
Not well up on Plasma, as don't see many. This one has good sound, the screen lights up in monochrome and continually flashes light and dark with vertical bars some inches wide that shift about the screen. Tried external inputs and it does the same.
Anyone with ideas ? - Thanks - Chris.

Hi Chris,
Primary cause of problems in these is a row of 3300uF 10V elcos (C238 to C244) on the PSU Sub-board, which sits below the main PSU.....cap ref numbers may vary for different screen sizes, but you cant miss the unmistakeable bulge.....no Chris, not referring to you, but I do have an image in my mind....of the caps.
See how you go with those before we explore other options. You gotta get lucky sometimes.
bon chance, Bruce.

Thanks Bruce,
Had a look around but noticed nothing bulging, or even a sub power board.
Think a piccy.
Keeping quite slim meself on diet of raw turnips ('fat of the land', as some chap said) - Chris.

Nice piccy, Chris, but not what I expected to see.
Your first post reminds me of the Lower Y-Drive boards on the earlier PX10/PX11 sets.
Try disconnecting each Y-Drive board in turn from the Y-SUS If a reasonable picture is displayed in top half or bottom half, then the disconnected Y-Drive is cactus.
Don't think the fan is working as well. Bruce

Hi Bruce,
How at 12000 miles you could see that the fan wasn't working shows you to be a real hero. Was a bit puzzled as Y drive boards seem mostly connected to the Y sus with just a couple of screws - earlier ones had a nice plug and socket arrangement.
Another hero suggested SMD 100mfd caps on the AV board next the regulators could be high ESR - checked them - seem OK.
Don't like Plasma - esp LG. Give me a nice Sammy with a power board fault that folks can fix or a duff screen fault report chargeable to insurance - Chris.
PS - Chap didn't collect, so have this heap to dispose of. Should anyone need free bits and can carry off an awfully heavy telly - Welcome - Otherwise, to the tip.
Later - Gather generally that Y Sus and drive boards are a bit of a problem on this model, so think box up and suggest a tip visit to recycle into something better.
Must admit, have a Sony KZ-42TS1E that looks like poetry in motion from the back - needs a 1-685-306-13 but most panels on the Flea relate to 32 inch versions - Can't imagine a 32 inch Plasma, just too small to be sensible. Just missed out on a 42 inch version, as chap didn't like my bid, re-listed and guess sold. Hate Plasma but this old analogue Sony Plasma is so sweet - Well, from the back.
