Hi folks,
Had a couple in recently where cust says they don't turn on at times, and suspect it's the on/off switch, as they always do.
So far I've found the sets work OK but feel there's something lurking - maybe it leads to the fave failure of
F9222L-F219 chip - Any thoughts ? - Thanks, Chris.

Update software

Hi, and thanks Jordan,
Had a look about and seems the problem is due to ageing backlight tubes that don't fire up quickly enough so set cuts to s/by, especially on cold days.
Firmware 5.61 seems the biz if you can get it, as over air updates have died because of the age of the set, which is daft as the problem only occurs with old sets.
Panasonic isn't open handed with firmware to 'Fred Public' who bought the set, has a computer and can use a photo card for updates.
Not sure myself, so took the back off and discovered a card socket - Piccy
Also found firmware to sort the problem - maybe. Wonder if I can save existing firmware before trying the up-date - As don't yet have the service manual to give a clue - Chris.
Later - Got the manual - No mention about the card slot or firmware updates - later discovered that firmware attached was rubbish full of nasties - sorry 'bout that.
