Hi folks,
Have one of these in with the usual PS pop problem, where 'Ohms' and 'ChasHyde' do repair kits.
Just wondered about reliablility of a kit repair job, as a screen smash board is less than twice the price and with rather less SMD soldering.
Recently did a 17IPS20 with a similar problem, but the duff FET didn't pop the drive chip.
Any thoughts ? - Chris.
Later - Got exact replacement panel from Emos the next day, now to try mend the old one for next time.

Would say it's even stevens, ya dunno whats going to happen at switch-on with a power supply rebuild and a board out of a screen smash job you just don't know of it's going to work or when it's gonna go 'POP', kinda stuck between the devil and the deep blue.
With power supply rebuilds they do usually work but other faults may show up.... I'd be considering the type of telly, Tesco, El' cheapo or high end brand. Might well be worth hangin' on otherwise.
Trouble is I never come across em again when I play that game, they're hangin' around and usually clodded in the end for lack of space.

Hi Davy and thanks,
Repaired the odd modern Vestel power board after a pop, and though it usually works, there are often issues where it cuts briefly after minutes or the picture is unstable.
Thought in this case, get a worker from Emos, then try mend the board for the next one.
Board now mended with most bits as advised, and waiting for the next pop to try it out. Always wrongly suspect that if a fault is common, I'll get dozens - Never works that way though - Chris.
