Title: JVC LT40C540 - Led backlight problem.
Post by: Turnip on October 16, 2015,10:34:23
Hi folks,

Have one in where at switch on, JVC logo would appear then set cut to s/by. Tried it several times and eventually heard/smelled a crackle from the back where backlights then stayed on.

Had a look at the P/S noticing sockets CON302 and CON303 (feeds to the back-lights) were seriously dry jointed.

Bit odd, as there were no other dries on the board (Mfd 2014) - Would maybe expect trouble with high pulse currents not low current DC feeds - Strange, but at least an earning doddle - Chris.

Hi Chris,

Jobs like that don't come along every day, so seize the moment. We have one particular model....the brand eludes me ATM....where said connector turns into a charred molten mess.

Hi Bruce,

Haven't noticed any ATM hereabouts yet, but knowing review folks say the JVC was made by 'Finlux'

Thought it surprising as last time I saw one it used valves.

Thinking on - Most Scandinavian makers were taken over by 'ITT/STC' - Not seen any of them either since the 70s.

At least it's not Vestel with all those Eeprom issues where you have not yet had the 'pleasure' - Chris.
