Hi Folks,
Usually use 'Smashed Screen' strips from Ebay, where peel off the Leds to mend duff strips.
Note that 'China' supplies cheap new Leds that look rather like the ones we use, but they don't mention current or wattage.
Would expect most Leds of this size are used for Tv backlights, so surprised they don't mention it.
Old Leds look a bit dubious and crumbly, so would prefer use new ones - Any thoughts ? - Chris.

Try LCD parts or Chas Hyde & Son for the led and strips.

Hi Davy,
Agree but China do bags of SMD Leds for pence - Checked all on Ebay, several the right size and colour but none yet able to handle 200 m/a, as dedicated backlight Leds have a much larger soldered area to attach to the heat sink, but with SMD SMT 3528/5050 connections are edge only.
Best one I found was SMD SMT 5630 rated at 150 m/a but was rectangular so couldn't get it under the lens.
Will keep looking, matter of time - Chris.

Just to mention it's the candle power and colour temperature that's important too.

Hi Dave,
Agree totally, but suspect when our Chinese chums realise we use 'em in quantity, they'll be available, and real cheap too - Will keep looking, never know - Chris.

Just a thought,
Sorted a smash screen panel on the Flea for the Leds, and was horrified to discover the strips were free floating on a plastic backplate with no heat sinking at all.
Just as well someone kicked the screen in B4 they popped - Chris.
