Hi guy's,got this little Vestel Hitach in,which I thought would be the usual i.c/capacitor sound mod kit.
Set comes on with sound,can run for hours o.k.At some stage you change channel & the sound has gone,but the message Service is not running,comes up.If you st-by & switch back on,then sound returns.My software version is V.1.0.0a,is there a later one,or am I barking up the wrong tree.
I've just noticed as well,if you standby the tv,set does not rest at st-by but flashes red/blue/red/blue,also with no sound with audio description switched off,you get audio description! Which is what makes me wonder about software.
My ssb is 17mb60-4.1

What I meant Chris was,whats the procedure to load software to tv via usb?Is set on,in st-by & switched or just plug usb in & it loads.

Originally I had no idea at all, but a chum filled me in a bit - It's direct to the Eeprom from the programmer with a clip, and rather fun when it works. Some you can read, also blank and reload still on the board, others need to be removed first.

Here is the idiot’s guide to working this programmer (written by an idiot)
Start the program
Connect clip to Eeprom getting it the correct way around, my clip annoyingly didn't have pin 1 marked so you might want to mark it somehow.
You may find you can program the chip still soldered to the PCB but you usually have to remove it.
Then you need to select the make and type of chip,
The Samsungs usually use a 24c256 =
Type - 24 Eeprom
Manu - Atmel
Chip - at24c256
or the Neon’s use a 25x32 =
Type - Spi flash
Manu - Winbond
Chip - w25x32
If it is a Spi flash type of IC you can usually just click on the detect icon and it will usually select the chip for you, don't worry if it selects the chip as a 25P32 the 25 and 32 are the important parts.
To read from the chip simply press the READ icon, you should see a blue status bar appear and a load of gobbledygook appears where there were just FFs.
When finished click on the SAVE icon and give it a name.
To write to the chip first click on the LOAD icon and select a program to load, then press the PROG icon and the blue status bar will appear, when complete click the VERIFY icon to confirm it transferred ok.
If VERIFY fails resit the IC and recopy the program and re verify it, repeated verify problems can mean the chip is duff.
It is very important the pins on the chip and clip are clean or you will just get a chip error, a squirt of switch cleaner can work wonders if there is any flux residue on the pins.
If using an old chip use the ERASE icon to wipe it first.
That is basically it, the hardest part is reading the numbers on the chip and getting the bloody thing to sit in the clip properly .I have included a couple of files to get you started, but I would advice you find an old board and have a practice first.

- I don't think there is a way of comparing files, I normally just blank it then copy a known good file onto it.
As for the 25df321 this is an Atmel spi flash chip, normally with these if you select 'spi flash' then click 'detect' it will choose the correct one for you. The detect mode only works for spi chips, most are this type these days.
The clip can be a pain in the backside to line up, sometime you can just clip it to a chip still attached to the board and it works great other times you have to remove the chip, it does bend the pins a bit. Always worth giving it a squirt of switch cleaner to keep the contacts clean.
- As for which Eeproms to copy, that is easy, all the ones from the shite supermarket sets, Technika, cello, Murphy, etc. and anything Vestel.
Important to note screen model number and size if you can as software as you know can be screen specific.
Not sure if I have mentioned before, I discovered a trick that works on some cheep Technika sets, if the set is stuck in standby, warm the chip up with a hairdryer, copy the Eeprom data from the chip then write it back to the same chip, hey presto, set starts and works!
Don't know why it works, some have speculated but explanations sounded like gobbledygook.
