Hi shaun,

Don't think Vestel boards do well in an oven, though it's said that if you heat the dubious Eeprom then read it, you can load it again and it might work - Never worked for me though.

Have a couple of good bins but you don't mention the model - Chris.

menu 4725 should get you into the serivce menu then look for diagnostic and factory reset is in there
you may find the firmware here

Hi shaun,

Don't think UMC deals with Vestel SSBs though 4725 is useful. Should you get a programmer, have a bin for a similar Vestel model - Best of luck with it - Chris.

Hi shaun,

Tried those a while ago but couldn't find a way to copy good firmware to a USB stick, as it seems not recognised, or I'm not pressing the right code to do it.

If I have the full USB firmware, the set won't start so I can't use it.

Note that reading the Eeprom tends to give maybe 2 mb but firmware as downloaded is at least 10 Mb often much more, so suspect the on board Nand Flash is involved, and is liable to be terminally corrupted.

Recall a chap on Quuq recently, having examined/replaced  Vestel Nand Flash chips, as was the case.     Best of luck - Chris.

Hi shaun,

Just had a Vestel in that sometimes wouldn't start after being in s/by, and even if it did, it would cut out and restart three times a day.

Had a suspicion that it was a duff Nand Flash chip. Gather even when new they're sold being several percent duff as seemingly duff areas are blanked out and not used.

Mind you, they're awful cheap.

In my case another SSB from Ebay did the biz, could be the easiest way - Chris.
