Title: Sharp LC-40LE811E goes off dead very rarely.
Post by: bonesy on July 14, 2017,10:04:48
Just had this one in can run for day's & no problems, but on hot day's will go to stand-by & not come back on until it's called down.I had a good look at the power board to start with & all the joints that are riveted  looked dry/cracked joints,so carried out a re-flow. Set ran for almost a week continuously
without fault, but today shut down twice with flickering st-by light. After heating & cooling board down, came down to a group of three opto couplers in the middle of p.s.u.the bottom one of the three being the guilty party. I have to say, this set is a Quattron display set,the picture quality produced is one of the best I've ever seen, fantastic detail, very natural colours.

Give it a perm, use a hair dryer.

Faults like this can be a pain and can be time wasters, I've had em', the more bash em and swear at em the more awkward they are.... hook as many scopes and meters up as you can might be a help, as you know one wee fault the CPU will sulk and go on strike.

I too would have gone for the opto's.

You guy's will love this.I tested this set for days,no doubt in my mind cured. For test purposes I ran it on freeview HD,customer uses Virgin on HDMI3 not one or two,no other devices used.Any way came in shown it to him working, all great I'm the best thing since Andy Murray whatever golden hand shake.Next Day "I don't know what YOU'VE done to my set but all I get now is no signal error 202!!
Very calmly I asked what AV input is it on?DTV he say's well that's why you've got that message, you need to go to AV button scroll down HDMI3 & away you go,All the time I'm talking to him God is interrupting me he knows his set better than me & it won't scroll down the scrolls broken. In the end I shouted him down with a very loud but masterful LISTEN! do what I'm about to tell you.AV button scroll down joypad HDMI3 & see what happens, guess what the set works, never had to do that before.
I was instantly promoted to star status again, alas, not Roger Federer,as he still hadn't won.Best bit was it left here set to HDMI3,so no doubt he'd been in turned on all the stupid extras that kill the picture quality like Eco mode & buggered it up.
You have to love the customers ,don't you.
