Hi Shaun,
Take a browse through Turnip's recent post "Panasonic TX-P50VT3oB-7 Flash Issue".You'll get a useful guidance on error code 7. Different model but it all still
applies. And if you find a short across connector SC2 on the SC board, check the underside of the mounting screw holes for signs of arcing to the panel.
So that we will have it on file, I'll upload the service manual, designated TH-P50U30A (Oz version). Bruce

hi bruce thanks i've just looked at it, how's it going in the land of oz :sign0098:

Very patchy. Some weeks I'm flat chat, other weeks I'm doing the Times cryptic crosswords - my way of keeping old-timers at bay.

hi again just been round to look at the tv it's 14 blinks not 7, the woman posted a video but it was a short one haha :57: could this be the mainboard thanks again

Hi Shaun,
Code 14 is generated if the is an abnormality during the data exchange with the standby CPU ROM, so yes, I'd say the A board (main)

Hi,
I also have this model of TV tx-p50u30b and in the process of trying to repair this tv to progress my learning in electronics and repair. I have the following problem and what I have tried to identify the cause but cannot seem to pinpoint the problem board:
1) Turn TV on - green light flashes for a few seconds followed by 7 red flashes.
2) Turn off tv, disconnect SC20, turn tv on - i get 8 red flashes?
I have checked SU, SD and SS boards (FET's, Diodes and buffers) all seem to test okay.
I also tried reconnecting SC20, disconnecting SS11, turn tv on - I get 6 red blinks. I am confused as to what this means. Could someone help me with the diagnosis? Your help would be much appreciated.
Best

Hi Ben,
Your error codes point to a failed SC board. Try this to verify:
Remove connectors between SU/SD and SC boards. Remove all screws securing SU/SD and fold the boards away from the SC. DO NOT remove the flat brown leads to the display or you'll spend half a day getting them back correctly. Locate socket SC20 on SC and short out the 2 pins.
Switch the TV on. If the set powers on to a solid green standby light, SC is OK and a green LED should light up on the SC. If you still get code 7, then the SC is knackered. It can cause codes 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10 and not necessarily from shorted FETs &/or diodes. I assume you've checked all of them on the SC.
My only concern is code 8 which is a SS board fault, but it might be normal with SC20 disconnected. Of course, if code 7 is cleared in the above test, then you have a faulty SU &/or SD, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. See how you go with that for starters. - Bruce

Thanks Bruce, I will give it a shot and will update you on how I get on. Thanks.

Hi Bruce,
Managed to get the TV fixed, it was down to faulty SU, SD boards. Managed to source cheap replacements from eBay. All good now. Thanks for your help.

That's bonza, Ben. Hope you did the screws on the SC board.

Yep, sorted the screws too!
