Title: 17pw15-9 and 17pw15-8 compatability?
Post by: cheeky2 on September 15, 2017,07:45:41
Ok I have a dodgy mains humming 17pw15-9 and was just wondering whether I could use a 17pw15-8 in place of it? I couldn't find any direct info on the web regarding suitability. But I am sure someone on this forum is in the know!
 Attached is the humming psu.
This unit is used as donor test one for testing. I have tried replacing c819 and t806 to no avail so as I have access to a 17pw15-8  just making sure its ok?

I will answer my own question to say that the issues lie with pl805 which has different connections to it. The only way really to use it is to look at the circuit diagram and cobble together another connector in my case pl806. So unfortunately as I don't have another suitable plastic connector for pl806 then I cannot use it.
After looking through my connectors I have a 4way connector that I have used in place for the pl806 7way connector that would fit in correctly. So have used the 17pw15-8 with reworked connectors on the psu side. See the attached picture.
All working now and no more buzzing!

Just if anyone interested I have had quite a few issues with the power connectors going high resistance between the psu boards and the main board. Just check the voltages between the psu and the main board. If they have reduced by more than 0.2V then your connectors could be causing issues with the TV! I have had the issues between 42inch to 32inch TVs sets using the 17pw15-8 17pw15-9 and the 17pw16-2. Generally on the 3.3V rails!
