Title: HITACHI 48HK6T74U glued ribbons
Post by: kennyc on November 10, 2017,07:10:22
Hi Guys ,got this in last week . TV only 6 months old but customer lost receipt . Screen lit up with Hitachi logo then went off after 30 seconds . Thought Leds faulty . Tried to get into Leds but Hitachi had glued the ribbons down to the black plastic panel you take off to get in to Leds. Could not get the 8 ribbons lose so maybe this is there new trick to stop us replacing Leds. In the end it turned out that before the Leds went off you could see the Netflix logo come up for a few seconds so thought it may be main board . Bought one cheap and it fixed the problem but it was just to let you know about the glued ribbons because the TV was so new

gentle heat about 70-90 c with hot air should loosen the glue up and free everything up.

I have seen silicone type glue on the larger sonys to keep the screen tacked down.

Thanks Zomikula, will try if I have another one . Just seems another way of the makers getting us to break the screen trying to change the LEDs
