Title: Samsung PS42V4S - Solarisation.
Post by: Turnip on November 17, 2017,10:09:23
Hi folks,

Got one in showing sparklies and solarisation when cold. After a few minutes it's OK.

Any thoughts ?  - Thanks - Chris.

Hi Chris,

Reminiscent of the early LG plasmas which developed glitter as they aged - mostly when first turned on. Trick was to adjust Set-Up and Set-Down pots on the Y-SUS but not sure if Samsung have them. Tweaking Vs and Va helped as well.

On Samsung, it's likely to be Vs and Vsc pots. I'll try to attach a bulletin but it's Powerpoint, so who knows.

Dead right, quuq doesn't want to know about it, but Vs and Vsc is the recommendation. It's an ageing problem - like us, we don't have the zip we used to have. Another Logic board may also help.

Thanks Bruce,

Gather there are more of you in the antipodes - Not surprising I guess, as read it can be tough 'Down Under' - At least according to Douglas Adams and Bill Bryson.

Have a service manual for the set, which gives nothing away apart from casing and service mode stuff. Especially not the power supply, or what to twiddle to sort voltages you suggest.

Noticed however a few suspicious caps, so will heat and freeze - See how it goes - Chris.

Later - Found P/S C75(47/63) temperature sensitive - Set now OK.
