Title: lg 50LB659
Post by: shopyd on December 21, 2017,09:16:10
hello experts
i have this problem on my lg
when i start the tv the screen is black but the back light is on .if i disconnect one side of the reebons that is connected from the lcd to the main board  i get a picture on the half of the screen .but when i connect this side back there is no picture at all.so i assume the other half of the screen cause a short to the tcon board and prevent it ro display .the tcon is integrated in the main board not separate.
is it possible that the half of a screen will be defected.anyone has experience this ??
any suggestions??

thanks

Hi shopyd,

Yes, your display panel is knackered. Quite common, especially when overzealous cleaners let liquid run into the bottom of the panel where it corrodes
everything.                  Bruce

Experienced? I've been repairing TVs for over 50 years. And yes, I've come across this problem, but you said you disconnected ribbons from the lcd to the main board. Do you mean T-con to main? If so, try same with ribbons T-con to lcd panel. If you get the same situation, then one half of the panel is faulty and dragging the data down.                               Bruce

Sorry, I misread that - no T-con on the TV, built into the main - so only one pair of ribbons. I still say it's the display panel.
