Title: Edge lit LEDs
Post by: sinclairtv on January 17, 2018,15:59:44
Iv a 46in Samsung with edge lit LEDs. Iv got the strip out but how easy is it to change an individual LED. They seem to have 4 connections.

Virtually impossible - I've never been able to do it myself.                     Bruce

What's really annoying is that edge lit led strips could have been a repairable item. Sets could have been made with a panel where we could have got into them without major disassembly. It's not as if leds have proven reliable after all.

They are usually in groups, could the extra connections be for 'heatsinking'? I'd be betting, if one or more has gone, the other good ones will soon be followed.... yep that's happened to me once, it was a 'scrappy' I was trying to get working.

At least I got two weeks of use out of it until the others went.
