Well blow me....! Just Yesterday I repaired a TX-L32X5B playing funnies, this had TNPA5596 4P power board.

My fault was a funny un', the guy said the sound went first then nothing at all, the only light I could see was when the  LED blinked on pressing the remote control, so I had a look round tried it again and the standby light came up..... no backlight, I don't know about the sound so I removed the mains power plug, pressed the ON button on the set and plugged in, keeping the power button pressed for at least 10 seconds..... bingo, the set worked flawless ever since.

I didn't like the look of C7313, a 47uF 35V sub miniature electrolytic right next to a heat sink in middle of the board so I changed it for a low ESR, this board seems to be used in other models.

Have you tried unplugging, waiting and then pressing the power ON button for 10 seconds while plugging in?

Have a look here, skipping the advert for Panasonic blink codes https://www.brainchamber.com/panasonic-tv-blink-codes/ (https://www.brainchamber.com/panasonic-tv-blink-codes/)

Hi folks,

Have one where the Red S/by Led glows when the on/off side switch is pressed, but it doesn't fire up. Any RCU button causes the S/by Led to flash, but no go, even after 10 seconds of pressing.

Checked the P/S where normal voltages appeared. Had a thought it might be backlights even though the set should maybe fire up first to check 'em.

Found set had 4 strings, where every string showed 42.5v on the tester, and all lit up.

Had duff SSB thoughts in mind from the start, and it's one that doesn't have any visible suspect caps as mentioned in a later set. Naturally nothing on Ebay to date.

Have tried cook Samsung, Sony and Panasonic SSBs, but unlike LG, it never works - Chris.

Panasonic have issued a bulletin in the last few days:
Models Reported :TX-L**C3, TX-L**E3 TX-L**U3
TX-L**C4, TX-L**X5, TX-L**XM6
TX-P**S20,

Dear Service Partner,

We have had a number of reported cases of the TV being locked up, i.e. not operating normally.
We believe that this is due to the changes in the way EPG data is now being broadcast and
found that this primarily affects units produced between 2011 to 2013, and occurs if the
TV is left in standby overnight.

In order to recover normal operation of the TV, please follow the steps below.
(Note: It may not be necessary to carry out all steps, e.g. if TV recovers after
step 1 you do not need to carry out steps 2 and 3).

Firstly switch off the mains supply and disconnect the aerial from the TV.

1) Press and hold the power button located on the unit (not the remote control)
and switch on mains supply whilst holding the power button until the unit powers up.

Or

2) Switch on mains supply, then press and hold the program up button (+) on the side
of the unit, until the unit powers up.

Or

3) Switch on mains supply, press and hold the power button on the unit until the unit powers up.

Once the TV has powered up, re-connect the aerial input.

To prevent, this phenomenon re-occurring, we advise the following steps are carried out:

A) Carry out a shipping mode on the unit and retune stations.
B) Turn Off New Station Found function.
C) Turn Off New Software Update.
D) It is recommended to power off completely and NOT to leave the unit in standby overnight.

Hi t1412

Exactly the same myself, so suspect a duff SSB, but will go on pressing buttons for a while. Suspect when makers use a big heat sink over the M'Proc, there's liable to be issues, but at least with LG, heat sort's most issues for a while.

Read something today where knowing folks supect it's whiskers which used to give issues with early Mullard transistors.

Not convinced, but curious as LG sets are mostly sorted by 200C in the oven for ten minutes, even if you need do it twice.

Sadly it doesn't work with anything else - Tried quite a few times - Chris.

Eventually tried pressing buttons in any sequence, where after a while the Green Led started to flash, so did as suggested, all now seems OK - Chris.

Had a 37 inch version in today for the same issue - Seems an earner.

The Panny TX-L32X5B that was playing funnies, as in my earlier post still working.... sounds like it suffered the same fault according to the symptoms, dunno if it's the same board.

Hi Dave,

Got another one in today with the same issue - Good earner.

Seems some folks leave on S/by overnight and set corrupted again by downloads.

Tell them to switch off, but mostly elderly folks who don't get the idea.

Suggested Ten Pounds a go if they don't. Cheap considering mileage - Chris.

Yep, plenty of folks leave them on standby all the time, not just the elderly though, there's folks that leave tellies on when they go out for the day.

Is it updates that causes these things or glitches on the mains that causes amnesia, I mean for it to update I would have thought the TV had to be switched on out of standby to initialise.... I mean what if the set is switched to an AV input or analogue TV for example before it's turned off?

Hi Dave,

Had an old boy with a 50 inch Pana plasma of the period, where he insisted leaving in in s/by overnight and noticed it clicked overnight and was corrupted again the next day, even though I followed Pana advice. Had problem twice with Pana Plasma, but not at all with LCD sets, as seem sorted first time.

Gather those updates have been transmitted for at least two months, as they keep coming in, had another LCD yesterday where they called in the aerial contractor first - Chris.

just keep resetting them I think the overnight downloads due to stop at end of month, then no more only updates for smart internet sets via internet
