Title: Toshiba 26EL833B - Tuning issue.
Post by: Turnip on May 31, 2018,12:48:29
Hi Folks,

Have one where OSG suggested a re-scan as no channels. Did and OK 'till set turned off then on again, where stored channels were lost, and further scans found nothing.

Suspect an SSB issue - None yet for this model on Ebay - Guess another crap set on the pile.

At least with 'Toshiba' 'Vestel' you had a chance, but guess Vestel is now too expensive for Toshiba - 'The Appliance of Science' seems now more to do with economy and punting crap - Chris.

Have a LCD X23/50G did something similar.. worked perfect until I did a retune, then comes up 'no signals found', worked fine on other inputs after fitting a LED strip.

In the service menu I got 'ADC failed', put it down to the Eprom corruption cos the backlights had cracked and been arcing so I swapped em' for two LED strips so I tried a blank Eprom but wouldn't even fire up with no standby light. If I hadn't dome a factory reset it would have been fine for anything except TV channels.

Wondered if that Toshy is similar, getting Eprom dumps for these UMC sets is like finding the right grade of rocking horse manure. Does the service menu look OK?

Thanks Dave,

Did a factory reset and checked menus but no dice. SSB on this set looked nothing like the usual  UMC - Labelled a 32AV833, so had hopes - Still Eastern Europe though where some folks fake death rather than try mend one - Chris.
