Post by: Turnip on August 12, 2018,04:08:56
Hi folks,

Have one where picture looks normal but with reduced brightness. Have a T/con feeling, wonder its a known issue ?

Thanks - Chris.

hi turnip
did you mean the backlights not bright enough as seem to remember they are adjustable and need to be 90/100 % to stop any audible noise from psu
set it high then use brightness to adjust for reasonable picture

Backlights are fine, picture great, plenty of contrast and colour, just too dark with everything to the max. Had a look on Ebay where T/cons are like expensive hen's teeth, where for some other sets they can be £2 inc post.

Worst I've met is the T/con for the Sony KDL-40V3000. Is's usually the AS15 but it often burns up the panel and destroys the print a bit - Chris.

hi turnip
its unusual for tcon to give low brightness ,first thought is maybe backlights running on low power makeing leds not giving full brightness or could be leds wearing out and about to pop
good luck but will try and find anything out

This set is ancient, but being a genuine Tosh is pretty good. Don't suspect the CCFLs as picture doesn't get brighter with time, and doesn't start out Pink and flickery.

Gather the T/con is a known issue, as it pops its fuse and when replaced it works for a while then dies. Not exactly my problem, but don't want to chuck in a pile of panels as its value is minimal, as four inches thick and weighs half a CWT.

Also it was gifted without a stand. Wouldn't care screw it to a plasterboard wall then stand underneath - Chris.

Hi folks,

In the event the AS15-F on the T-con was duff. T-con was buried in the set so didn't notice it had one 'till an ex Quuq Hero suggested I should take a look, as he'd had several with the same issue - Sorted - Chris.
