Title: LG 42LM620T-ZE
Post by: EVILMRB on September 21, 2018,19:16:10
Hi this TV works for about two hours then I get a thin black line at the top of the screen (as seen in pic 1) and then straight away it drops down about a inch (as seen in pic 2) but at the same time the whole picture jumps at about every 8 to 9 seconds.
Any help would be very helpful, and I have uploaded the service manual for this model on this site if anyone needs it.

Thank you jordan, will try that and get back to you. Some tv engineer near me tried telling me I had a duff screen, but I think if that was the case it would not last two hours.

Hi jordan I cleaned the ribbons from the tcon board and after two hours the line reappeared but the picture was not jumping like before.

Is it worth me trying a new T-con and ribbons.

I have upped a video of what this tv is doing, and like I said in my previous post I have cleaned the ribbons like Jordan mentioned this as cured the jumping but the line still appears after about two hours. Any more views would be helpful.

hi looks like it could be tcon only way to find out is to replace it or try freezer spray while fault is showing

hi if tcon did not work only thing left is ribbon cables to screen, problem is not an easy permanent repair ,try packing between cables and caseing on screen connections fairly common problem

You mentioned that the picture was jumping around. It may be stuck in "Auto 3D simulation on start-up" and a bit reluctant to be normal.
A factory reset (service remote needed) and a firmware update might fix it.

Or it may be defective side tabs on the display panel.                           Bruce

Took the screen apart but this screen as no tabs down either side, will buy something to pack it and let you know later. But thanks for giving advice.

tabs go from t/con to screen, possibly on top/try pressing one on screen tabs while fault showing use insulated tool to press
