Hi guys
I really need your expert advice on this issue.
Tv comes on for approx 3 secs showing light grey screen.
Then turns black and led light blinks five time pause then repeat.
Any advice pls.?!!

Error code 5 generally indicates a T-Con fault - board at top centre probably covered by a large aluminum heatsink.
You'll find a small surface-mount fuse near the connector that comes from the main board.
Make sure it's not open circuit and that there is 12V on it - supplied from the main board.

Thnx Bruce,

HI BRUCE,
here are some pics..
Is this the t con board in the photo.? Is that the heatsink in question.?
I have also attached pics of main and led driver board..
thnx
-
Do the pics need to be more closeup.?
-
I think the T-con is under the aluminium cover - the board that the purple flexi cable is attached to in picture 4.
-
Thnx,
is there a relatively simple test to help show whether the t con would be the fault.?
-
None that I'm aware of. But if you lay the TV screen face-down and remove bottom electronic hub and the metal cover over the T-Con, you'll be able to check the fuse on the T-Con and make sure that 12V is supplied to it from the main board.

Great stuff.
really appreciate the responses..thns.

Hi guys,
could this be the fault.?
I just looked closely at this cable from main to t con board and it looks broken.
This is correct to you guys.?
-
It certainly looks a bit suspect. Heat damage or physical damage? Be an idea to remove it at both ends and check each wire for continuity and shorts to adjacent wires. Just a thought.
-
Ok..trying to remove the other end seems a bit tricky.
How does this connector work to release .?
-
Are these cables normally compatitible to other similarly sized and branded tvs?
I have seen a cable for kdl49we663 model.Mine being the ..753 model.

Re the connector: the small black bits at each end will depress, and release a notch in each side of the flexi. So depress one side and pull that end of the flexi outwards slightly, then do the other side and repeat till it's free. Don't like these as a few fittings and removals seems to damage the print that goes into the socket. Same with refitting except in reverse. I recently had to trim off the notches at each side of the flexi
to facilitate easier refitting.
Compatibility is a matter of luck - different widths, number of traces, attaching systems, etc. Bruce

Wow Bruce,
lol,,try as I might in all directions, this cable seems very hard to move.
Im obviously trying to be very gentle..Maybe too gentle until I know the direction is correct.
It doesnt seem to depress..What is the cable called ? so I can try to find a video.
I have seen the LVDS connectors on samsung seem to squeeze in towards each other but this doesnt do that it seems.
-
Ok I got the cable out.
I thought the notched part also came out as well.
Thnx guys..Now to test with new cable..

WOOOHOOO,
