Title: Panasonic TX-50AX802B - Control issues.
Post by: Turnip on June 27, 2019,12:02:53
Hi folks,

Have one where if the side buttons are pressed in some sequence the set might come on. If just turned on it displays 'Panasonic' then cuts.

Recall 'Bonesy' had the issue a while ago where updating the firmware sorted his set. In my case, seems the new firmware was the same as original, so couldn't be used to maybe sort the problem.

Next step was a 'Factory Reset' where the result was only a screen-saver picture which went on and off every 5 seconds, any RCU button presses just turned the screen-saver picture off, then on again.

Noticed that if I pressed and held other side buttons while plugging in, I got an option of no picture at all.

Wonder if anyone has thoughts  ? - Chris.

Hi Chris,

Sounds like duff LEDs possibly - LG panel. Have you tried self-check mode - hold Vol -  on the panel and Menu on the remote for 3+ seconds. The self-check menu should appear (if panel is operating). Power it off at the main and it will return to first-time installation (shipping condition). Just a thought.                              Bruce

Hi Bruce and thanks,

Will try self check - Did it this morning with a Sammy where the sound goes on channel change. Perfect on self check though. The Sammy also looses channels then finds them again at switch on.

Thanks again with a 42 Pana where the side backlight went off with a nice error code. Took the strip out and ran it at full tilt finding no issues - New strip sorted it.

Amusingly the repair took so long (strip from China) cust bought another set, so now replaces the 37 Vestel in the lounge.

Wife a bit peeved as she can't see the full picture due to her new sideboard being in the way. Suggested we might shift it an inch or two - Not a chance - Chris.

Forgot to mention that if side buttons are pressed in a certain sequence, the set stays on for days. Had one in last year where noticed on Ebay, folks trying to sell them with the same issue for serious money, as all bells and whistles.
