Title: Screens with integral T/cons - Re-attachment.
Post by: Turnip on October 20, 2019,10:24:06
Hi folks,

Note a well respected firm now supplies T/cons detached from broken screens, with the advice that 'Double sided thermal tape' should be used to re-attach.

Bit confused as can't find any providing signal feed-through. Possibly it's sorted by pressure alone ?   -  Interested as have such a T/con where need replace the

power control chip but dare not try with screen attached - Any thoughts - Chris

Hi Chris, do I understand they're detaching ribbons from the actual screen and expecting you to reattach them. I'd suggest forget. You've got two chances - none and buckleys.                         Bruce

Hi Bruce,

Get real, forget Brexit.

Said respected firm is totally serious, they never ever joke. Mind you they get peeved if you forget send off a T/con for sorting, as seemingly wasting their time - And that's serious.

Admit haven't yet tried attached T/cons but have never known said firm not to sort anything they advertise to repair.

Guess it's the 'Double Sided Thermal Tape' - Whatever, well it's 2019 where the impossible is now possible, and possibly Green - Chris.

Hi Bruce

Now note another famed UK supplier is advertising detached T/cons - Mind you, they don't mention how they might be re-attached, and don't mention tape of any kind.

Cautious myself, as have just found LG feels glass fibre isn't the biz for Led back lights as burns a bit. Seems new strips are aluminium to conduct heat from those 6 volt Leds.

Ever hopeful - Chris.

The cable feels  'gluey' when I try to remove them from damaged screens, replacing them guess you got to be right first time.
