Title: panasonic tx-55fx555b vestel 17mb130s crashed and frozen
Post by: lee775 on July 07, 2020,07:02:33
my panasonic tx-55fx555b 4k hdr smart tv switched itself off and now wont turn on, the standby light just flashes red constantly whilst the back lights come on and then off again where the tv is trying to turn itself on.
Both the boards inside are fine but the main board is frozen and I tried to update the  board with an update on the flash drive via the usb but it starts to work for a second then changes to software update error, firmware I used was p_183_3108_M22

Can anyone tell me if it was the right update or why it fails or how to unfreeze it?

Also if i buy a vestel 17mb130s board off ebay will it work out the box or will i have to flash the rom with my tv's firmware and is that just with an update on usb? if not how do I do it?

Appologies if I sound dumb but only had it 15 months and refuse to pay a fortune to get it repaired if I can do it myself, that and the fact that i am skint and out of work!

Any advise you can give I would be very greatfull for.

When Panasonic LED TVs flash an error code via the red standby light, there is nothing you can do except power it off. Sounds like you're getting error code 1 - flashing red every few seconds - which is a backlight error. No good trying to update the firmware while it's in this state.

I did a Panasonic that was giving code 1 just yesterday. It was edge lit on one side by some 50 odd LEDs. One LED only had failed. I think that is where yo need to look for your problem.                                  Bruce

thanks for getting back to me but as i said the red light flashes all the time, no pauses, no number of flashes just constantly flashing from when the power is turned on at the wall until its turned off at the wall.

Just adding that it flashes once roughly every second

Sorry it's been so long but I got this fixed with the help of Diah from the BadCaps Forum who gave me the software files to do a complete instal from usb and now I need to manipulate the profiles with the Vestel toolbox v1.1 but I will do a new post with regards to that, as far as this one goes I have resolved my problem so thanks to all.
Lee.

Hi Bruce,

You don't have the joy of Vestel, where there's a different SSB for every screen and option.
Fortunately they get binned by the thousand and turn up on Ebay

If I need a SSB I go for the screen then work backwards as some current panels have no
Identification labels.

Mind you, much preferable to UMC stuff, which is crap in any language  - Chris.
