Title: LG 43UH620V LCD PANEL TO LG 43UJ635V + other questions
Post by: noobietvman on August 19, 2021,05:49:04
Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to the whole TV repair process so had a few questions and will probably have a lot more in order to learn from you lot.

I collected a few TV's yesterday from FB.
The LG 43UH620V (http://"https://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-43UH620V") works but has a blue tint.
LG 43UJ635V (http://"https://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-43UJ635V") turns on but the screen is just smashed to pieces.

I was wondering if it was possible to get the panel from the LG 43UH620V and replace it on LG 43UJ635V.

If not, could I take the LED strips from 43UJ635V and replace them into the 43UH620V?

Secondly, I've only opened up 2017/2018 model LG TV's, the back covers seem to be easy to come off but this 2016 LG 43UH620V back cover...I'm really struggling to get it off. Even snapped a piece off my prying tool. Examined the whole thing and can't find any hidden screws, removed 11 screws out from the back. Couldn't find a video on how to dismantle it, the designs a bit different to the 2017/2018 LG TV's. Any help there would be appreciated.

And lastly, when ordering replacement LED strips I've just went on Aliexpress and typed in the model number and tried to match the look and numbers on the strip itself.
Set of 3 strips with 7 leds on each strip, LC43490059A
All have different prices depending on the model number... but they're all effectively the same thing right?
Should I just play it safe and pay a bit more just because the title/description specifically says my model?
Eg https://imgur.com/a/gHY1Bp4 (https://imgur.com/a/gHY1Bp4)
Some cost £9, others £12+
Does this 'LC43490059A' number make a difference?

I've opened up one TV and it had 'LC43490059A' on the strip but when I put the model no on ali express the top recommended strips would say 'LC43490089A' so had to scroll down to find ones with the same number but I'm thinking it's not be all end all.
Eg 43UJ634V gives me this 59a (http://"https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001211217136.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.35bf7ff8SZUyxe&algo_pvid=e1cd2874-9139-4e5b-a921-5429a88bfc26&algo_exp_id=e1cd2874-9139-4e5b-a921-5429a88bfc26-0&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2210000015315897362%22%7D") and this 89a (http://"https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001350178985.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.35bf7ff8SZUyxe&algo_pvid=e1cd2874-9139-4e5b-a921-5429a88bfc26&algo_exp_id=e1cd2874-9139-4e5b-a921-5429a88bfc26-2&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2210000015770067310%22%7D")

As you can tell I have no idea what those numbers even mean but I just try to match them up as the original one in the TV

It's alot of questions to digest and probably answer so understand its frustrating to write a response but I like to learn new things :)

Thanks for any advice and help

You cannot transfer the UH620 panel to the UJ635 - you'd be transferring the blue tint as well - this is caused by the LEDs being overdriven. You may be able to transfer the UJ635 LED strips to the UH620 but there's a good chance the spacing of the LEDs on the strips will be different, the connectors may be different, the lenses on top of the LEDs may be different - it's all a moving feast day. Manufacturers usually contrive that you cannot change parts on different models. You'll have to open both panels and compare.

The strips will have a part number on them, and may have different left/right halves with different part numbers. It's best to go by these numbers. If the panel numbers on the white stickers on the back of the panels match exactly, then you have no worries. Your best bet is to renew the strips on the 43uh620 then turn down the backlight level in the picture menu.

Re the back cover, some LGs have 2 screws on the underside near the centre hub. You also need to remove the pedestal stand - there  are usually 2 screws under there' and look for recessed holes in the cover -there will be screws there. Hope that gets you through your dilemma.

Thanks for your advice, by then I managed to open it all up and see it wasnt transferable.

I did have another query about LED strips though if you can help me with that please.

I was wondering, is there any difference between these LEDs?

My usual routine was
>Go on aliexpress
>Type Model Number
>Find cheapest, quickest delivery specific to that model no

However I've noticed a lot of these have the same amount of LED's but with different numbers. Does it really matter if the title/descpription doesn't specify the Model I require. Sometimes I'm paying twice the amount another seller is charging, simply because the model no is in the title/desc

Scenario: I'm looking for replacement LEDs for LG 43UJ634V

This one charges £18, says LC43490089A, comes as 3 whole parts not split into 2 (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001350178985.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.54527ff83CuVLa&algo_pvid=39647842-f4b7-4930-bf11-a3f3037b7359&aem_p4p_detail=202108190237104082616929879730000675650&algo_exp_id=39647842-f4b7-4930-bf11-a3f3037b7359-0&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2210000015770067310%22%7D")

This seller charges £9 LG 43UJ634V 43LJ61_FHD_L LC43490059A LC43490058A Innotek 17Y 43inch_A LC43490074A  (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001918032042.html")

As you can see in the pictures itself it says on the strip LC43490058A/59A/63A/64A -- Kinda like a 1 size fits all

Some come in 2 parts which I have to connect to get the 3 strips (6 in total) whereas some come just in 1 whole strip (3 in total) Is this because its cheaper delivery, packaging is smaller = cheaper?

I would go with LED strips for your specific model, even if you have to pay a bit more. It's not one size fits all even if it appears so. There are 3V and 6V LEDs, different LED spacings which may not match the holes in the white reflective sheet, single or interconnected strips (most LGs use a 2 part interconnected strip), different filter lenses over each LED. There are a lot of variables which may end up costing you more if the strips don't match. I use Aliexpress a lot and find them good although they sometimes lump things together eg four types of ICs and they sent me the wrong type. If your TV uses 6 LED strips joined at the approximate centre to form 3 strips total, then that's what I would get They are referred to as A strips and B strips.
