Title: lg rz-50py10 weired problem ?
Post by: mzone on December 06, 2009,21:42:45
i have a weired problem on the ysus on a lg rz-50py10  theres colored blotches on screen however if i use a hairdryer on around this area ( see picture ) if i hold hairdryer for 5 seconds around this area the picture will come on fine and tv will work as normal?

i have looked at surrounding area everythink looks fine, just cant seem to pinpoint which component it is in this area, as works perfect if i use a bit of heat in this area for a few seconds but pictures blotchy again if i try and start tv from cold ?

anyone any ideas ?

Hi, this is normally caused by surface mount electrolytics. The one to the left of the sub panel, in line with your right pointing arrow probably needs changed. These can be checked in circuit with an ESR meter if you have one. The value is usually 33uf 25v. You can fit a conventional capacitor here if that is what you have. Hopr this helps, Norman

must be somethink else as tryed hairdryer again in that area and set works ok ?

any other ideas ?

Hi, the only other thing I can suggest is to adjust the small control on the sub panel in that area. Sometimes as the pdp get older you may have to adj this, turn it a small amount either way and see if this helps.Norman

ok still trying to fix problem, now i think its a diffrent area as shown in pictures.
blotchy picture when switched on but if i use a hairdryer in this area with some heat picture clears up and works normal.

i have also measured the 2 caps in this area on my esr meter.

25v 330uf cap measures - 2494uf / esr 0.16 ohms ( changed set still acts same )
100v 150uf cap measures - 432.4uf / esr 0.06 ohms

do these measurments  sound right?

also noticed a big red cap shown in pictures but not sure if problem might be that checked the number on cap but cant find out what value it is?
