Hi Guys
Got caught out a couple of years ago with a Vestel AK19 chassis. After resoldering the usual 1001 dry joints and replacing the blown line transistor (BU2508AF) with a seemingly better rated BU2525AF, I had an immediate recall. Blown line transistor again. Fitted another and it survived 3 startups before it died again. Back at the workshop a thorough investigation found no other problems and another BU2525 was fitted. Started ok and was left running a couple of hours with no problem. Put it into standby and brought it out again-and goodbye line transistor. Time to raid a scrap chassis and fit a BU2508AF. Problem solved. According to the blurb I could find at the time the BU2508AF has a higher tolerance to base drive variations (whatever that was supposed to mean). Guess there's more to these line transistors than just the current and voltage specs! Dont know if its the answer this time but certainly worthy of consideration.
Regards
John.
